1. What is the difference between a “free ink roller” and a traditional ballpoint pen?
Free ink rollers offer a smooth, vivid writing experience, delivering ink with more precision and control than a traditional ballpoint pen. A free ink roller pen has ink that is usually visible to the user through a window. Since free ink is thinner than ballpoint pen ink and is delivered through a unique writing system, free ink rollers need to be treated with a little extra care to ensure the best writing performance.
2. What is the proper way to store my BIC Triumph Roller when not in use?
When not in use we recommend that you securely cap your pen.
3. What could cause my BIC Triumph Roller to leak?
To ensure the best performance from any free ink roller-type pen, do not vigorously shake, twirl or tap the pen on a hard surface. Since free ink is much thinner than regular ballpoint pen ink and is delivered through a unique writing system, free ink rollers are more prone to leak as a result of these harsh behaviors. Always be sure that your BIC Triumph Roller is securely capped when not in use. Be sure the refill cartridge is fully tightened into the barrel before each use.
Also, exposure to extreme temperatures, such as being left in a car during the summer months, or extreme changes in air pressure such as in an airplane can cause roller/free ink pens to leak. If using these pens on an airplane, take the cap off with the tip facing upwards. This equalizes the pressure in the pen by allowing air into the chamber.
4. How do I remove a roller or gel ink stain from clothing or other surfaces?
Important: A word of caution before trying any of the methods suggested: some surfaces and fabrics may be damaged by the all-purpose cleaners. If in doubt, test on a "hidden" area first and follow the manufacturer's directions.
If the ink is on clothing, saturate the item with the all-purpose cleaner. Be sure to place an absorbent paper towel or rag under the stain to catch the excess ink. You then need to blot the stain with a rag. Repeat this process until the stain is removed, then launder as usual.
If the ink is on anything other than clothing, spray the all-purpose cleaner directly on the stain and then wipe off with a clean paper towel or rag. You might need to do this a few times depending on the size of the stain.
